Hogs get 18 from Daniels, but fall in final seconds to UCF on road
ORLANDO, Fla. — Arkansas (6-2) dropped a heartbreaker on Thursday night, falling on the road to UCF (6-1), 52-51.
The game was a defensive struggle all night long, but the whistle was the difference. The Golden Knights made 19 of their 28 free throws while Arkansas made six out of eight.
The Hogs weren’t hitting at their normal clip from distance either, hitting 29 percent of their shots from deep.
Makayla Daniels went for a game-high 18 points on an efficient 5-of-10 shooting. She also added a team-high six rebounds and a game-high three steals.
Sasha Goforth was the only other Hog to reach double-figures with 11 points.
Turning point
This game came right down to the wire, and the Hogs were up against it late.
Goforth showed her clutch ability, first hitting a big-time three-pointer from the corner to cut the UCF lead to just one. Following a two-pointer from UCF, Daniels stepped to the line and calmly knocked down two free throws, trimming the lead to just one.
With the Golden Knights up 50-49, Goforth came up huge again, putting up a floater with her left hand that went down with just 15 seconds left.
UCF responded, though, as Diamond Battles hit what turned out to be the game winner with just eight seconds left. Arkansas got another chance, but the Hogs would turn it over just before the buzzer sounded.
Hogs highlights
• Daniels continues to be a monster on the glass, going for six more rebounds.
• Elauna Eaton and Jersey Wolfenbarger hit big shots in this one off the bench, going for three and six points, respectively.
• Erynn Barnum was also good on the glass, hauling in three rebounds.
Next game
Arkansas returns to Bud Walton on Sunday, as Cal comes to town. That game is set to tip at 1 p.m. CT, and will air live on SEC Network+.

Jaylin Williams leads Razorbacks to win over UCA
No. 9-10 Arkansas turned a six-point halftime lead into a 37-point, 97-60, victory over Central Arkansas on Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena.
The Razorbacks improved to 7-0 overall and 8-0 all-time versus the Bears.
Jaylin Williams had a career-high 13 rebounds (11 defensive) and four Razorbacks scored in double figures, including a game-high 17 points from Stanley Umude off the bench, 16 points each from Davonte Davis and Au’Diese Toney, and 10 points from JD Notae.
Umude added eight rebounds and Toney was 6-of-6 from the field in the second half, scoring 14 of his 16 points in the period.
Highlights in the second half include:
• Arkansas scored the first 11 points of the period.
• Arkansas had a 20-2 run, including an 8-0 run and 12-0 run, to put the game away.
• UCA was 7-of-10 from 3-point range in the first half but was held to just 2-of-11 in the second half.
• Arkansas had 15 assists with just five turnovers with eight steals.
Collin Cooper led UCA with 13 points, but had just two in the second half, while Camren Hunter and Darious Hall each scored 12, including just three in the second half.
For the second straight game, Arkansas will host an in-state opponent when Little Rock comes to Bud Walton Arena this Saturday (Dec. 14). Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
FIRST HALF: Arkansas: 41 – UCA: 35
• Arkansas scored the first five points of the game, raced out to a 7-1 lead, and led 7-3 at the first media timeout.
• UCA too to leads in the first half, the last being 24-23.
• From that point, Arkansas made three straight 3’s as part of an 11-0 run.
• Stanley Umude led Arkansas with 15 first-half points.
• Jaylin Williams had nine rebounds (eight defensive) and helped Arkansas out-rebound UCA 21-15. Williams added two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
• Arkansas shot 51.7 percent but was just 8-of-20 (40 percent) from the free throw line.
• UCA made 7-of-10 from 3-point range to stay in striking distance.
SECOND HALF: Arkansas: 56 – UCA: 25
• Arkansas opened the second half with an 11-0 run to lead 52-35.
• The Razorbacks also had an 8-0 run to lead 70-46.
• Arkansas then used a 12-0 run (as part of an overall 20-2 run with the 8-0 run above) to extend the lead to 82-48.
GAME NOTES
• Arkansas’ starting lineup was Davonte Davis – JD Notae – Au’Diese Toney – Jaylin Williams – Connor Vanover for the sixth straight game.
• UCA won the tip. It was the first time this season the opponent won the tip. However, UCA missed the fast-break layup off the tip.
• Au’Diese Toney scored the game’s first points, a layup at 19:50.
• Chris Lykes was the first Razorback sub.
• Arkansas had 22 assists, marking the second time the Hogs had over 20 helpers in a game.
• Arkansas out-rebounded UCA, 47-31. UCA missed 33 shots but only grabbed five offensive rebounds (one by Camren Hunter, one by Vincent Reeves and three “team” rebounds).
• Arkansas played a home game as a top-10 team for the first time since 1995.
• JD Notae entered the game as the SEC’s leading scorer, but only had 10 versus UCA. However, he is the only Razorback to score in double figures in all seven games.
• Notae led the team with six assists.
• Jaylin Williams drew his team-best, 10th charge in addition to his career-high 13 rebounds. He added two assists, two steals and two blocked shots.
• Chris Lykes had a season-high five assists.
• Arkansas has 52 wins since Eric Musselman arrived, including 35 in Bud Walton Arena. Both win totals are the most among SEC teams over the span.
• Arkansas extended its streak to 1,082 consecutive games with a 3-pointer made. The streak is the 3rd-best in the NCAA.
• Arkansas scored over 50 points in a half for the second time this season and the 13th time in the Musselman era. Arkansas also scored 50-plus in the UNI win (53) and 10 of the 14 times to score 50-plus have come in the second half.
