Cody Kennedy, Jordan Silver Among Nominees for National Awards
Cody Kennedy was a late hire for Arkansas coach Sam Pittman as a tight ends coach, then got moved to the offensive line in the summer.
Monday he was named one of the nominees for the Broyles Award, given to the nation’s top assistant coach.
Kennedy is one of 59 nominees for the award, which is named after the legendary Arkansas football head coach and athletic director Frank Broyles.
The Razorbacks’ offensive line has gotten better under Kennedy’s guidance this year. Arkansas has rushed for 2,345 yards this season, its most since gaining 2,565 yards on the ground in 2015, behind the unit’s blocking.
Arkansas’ rushing attack ranks second in the SEC and sixth nationally, averaging 233.5 yards per game.
He had been hired just before spring practice in the assistant coach shuffle as the tight ends coach. When Brad Davis decided to go to LSU in June, Pittman moved Kennedy to the offensive line.
Kennedy, who is in his first season as the Hogs’ offensive line coach, was originally hired to coach the Razorbacks’ tight ends following a brief stint at Southern Miss during the 2020 offseason as the team’s run game coordinator and offensive line coach.
He had joined Southern Miss after spending the 2019 and 2020 seasons as Tulane’s offensive line coach, helping the Green Wave establish one of nation’s premier rushing offenses.
Jordan Silver One of 10 in Semis for Long-snapper Award
Jordan Silver is one of 10 semifinalists for the Patrick Mannelly Award, which recognizes the top senior long snapper in college football.
Silver has played in all 10 games this season as the Razorbacks’ primary snapper, handling snapping duties on field goals and punts.
Thanks in part to Silver’s pinpoint snapping, Cam Little has emerged as the top freshman kicker in the country by making 17-of-21 field goal attempts as well as all 34 of his point after attempts this year.
A redshirt senior from Branson, Mo., Silver boasts the third-highest special teams grade (75.2) on the Razorbacks, according to Pro Football Focus.

Little picks up league’s top special teams’ award after game-winner
Cam Little has another SEC award for the second week in a row.
The freshman kicker was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after drilling three-of-three field goals, including the walk-off game-winner in overtime, in Arkansas’ 16-13 win at LSU.
The Moore, Oklahoma, native grabbed his second conference award in as many weeks after he was named freshman of the week for hitting three field goals in a win over Mississippi State on Nov. 6.
Little recorded makes of 27, 37 and 48 yards against the Tigers, nailing the game-winner from 37 yards out. It was the first Arkansas game-winner on the game’s final play since Connor Limpert’s 34-yard field goal at Ole Miss.
Little leads all FBS freshmen with 17 made field goals this year, which also ranks second overall in the SEC. He moved into a tie for the eighth-most makes in a single season in program history with Alex Tejada (2007), Todd Latourette (1998) and Todd Wright (1992).
Little picked up his third weekly award from the conference office this year, adding to his two freshmen of the week awards. He is the first Razorback to earn freshman of the week twice in the same season since Dre Greenlaw (2015).
Earlier this season, Little connected on four field goals in Arkansas’ 20-10 victory over No. 7 Texas A&M to earn his first career freshman of the week recognition.
Little is contributing $10 for every made field goal this season to Down Syndrome Connection of Northwest Arkansas and it up to $170 in donations.
The Razorbacks are ranked No. 21 in this week’s AP Poll and travel to face No. 2 Alabama this weekend in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m. on CBS.
