Crimson Tide shuts out Razorbacks to win series Sunday

First time bats disappearing got them shut out, dropping first SEC series of season against Alabama.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 1 Arkansas (30-5, 12-3 SEC) was shut out for the first time since 2022 and dropped its first SEC weekend series of the year, suffering a 5-0 loss in the finale at No. 25 Alabama (24-12, 6-9 SEC) Sunday afternoon.

With Sunday’s setback in Tuscaloosa, Arkansas moved to 12-3 through 15 games of SEC play for only the third time in program history. The Hogs also began 12-3 through 15 games of SEC play during the 1999 and 2010 seasons.

The Razorback offense was stifled by Crimson Tide starter Zane Adams, who tossed eight scoreless innings with five strikeouts, and reliever Alton Davis II, who twirled a scoreless ninth with a strikeout. The Hogs recorded only four hits all game, including two each from Jared Sprague-Lott (2-for-4) and Ben McLaughlin (2-for-4), and drew just two walks.

Arkansas starter Brady Tygart, meanwhile, turned in a stellar outing on the mound, spinning five innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts. The junior left-hander lowered his season ERA to 2.59 in 41.2 innings over nine starts this year.

Alabama did most of its damage against the Arkansas bullpen, tagging relievers Koty Frank and Will McEntire for four runs in three innings. Tygart took the hard-luck loss, however, the first loss by a Razorback starting pitcher this season.

The Hogs will return to the friendly confines of Baum-Walker Stadium, where they have won 23 consecutive games, for their second double midweek series in as many weeks. First pitch in the two-game set between Arkansas and Texas Tech is slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, on ESPN2 with Karl Ravech (play-by-play) and Kyle Peterson (analyst) on the call.
