Former Arkansas forward Malique Ewin has signed with Oregon, according to Connor Goodson of HawgSports.com.
A source confirmed the move to HawgSports and 247Sports on Monday afternoon.
Ewin spent just one season with the Hogs before things changed fast. He entered the transfer portal on April 21 and left John Calipari’s roster looking for a new home.
Before he could sign anywhere though he needed something extra. Ewin had to get a special waiver from the NCAA before he could take the floor again.
A federal judge out of Colorado made that waiver possible. Her decision opened a door that had been shut for players in his exact spot.
Judge Charlotte Sweeney handed down an injunction late last week. It gave back a fifth year of eligibility for athletes who came from the Class of 2022.
That ruling matters a lot for guys like Ewin. Players who had already entered the portal can now sign with programs that still have open roster spots.
Ewin’s lone season with Razorbacks
Ewin gave Arkansas steady minutes all year long. He played in every game the Razorbacks had on the schedule.
He averaged 9.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He also chipped in an assist and a block on most nights.
His shooting was sharp too. Ewin connected on 59% of his shots from the floor and 73.9% of his free throws.
He didn’t start much though. Ewin only got the starting nod four times and mostly backed up Nick Pringle off the bench.
As the season wore on he only got better. His comfort level grew and his minutes climbed heading into March.
His best game came at the perfect time. Arkansas met Hawaii in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and Ewin was ready.
He posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Six of those rebounds came on the offensive glass alone.
Ewin also grabbed six assists two steals and a block in just 31 minutes. The Razorbacks knocked off the Rainbow Warriors 97-78 to keep dancing.
Winding road before Arkansas
Ewin’s path to Fayetteville took some twists. He actually started his career at Ole Miss as a four-star recruit out of high school.
After one year with the Rebels he moved on to South Plains Community College for the 2023-24 season.
That turned into a huge year. Ewin became the top-ranked JUCO prospect in the entire country and helped his team reach the Elite Eight of the NJCAA Tournament.
From there Ewin committed to Florida State. He led the ACC in shooting percentage while averaging 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds across all 30 games.
Even before college Ewin was making noise. He earned Georgia’s 7-A Player of the Year award as a senior and ranked among the nation’s top 20 centers.
Once his Florida State season ended he jumped back into the portal. Ewin committed to Arkansas on April 15 2025 and now just over a year later he’s packing for Oregon.
