Salazar movs into second round at NCAA Championships

Jose Salazar moved into the second round of singles competition Wednesday at the NCAA Championships after a three-set victory over Oklahoma’s Ferran Calvo.

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — Arkansas senior Jose Salazar moved into the second round of singles competition Wednesday at the NCAA Championships after a three-set victory over Oklahoma’s Ferran Calvo at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

Salazar, who is ranked No. 18 nationally in singles, bested No. 64 Calvo, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, and will next play California’s No. 54 Billy Griffith at 10 a.m. Thursday in the second round.

Additionally, doubles competition will get underway Thursday as the Razorbacks’ No. 37 ranked tandem of juniors Oscar Mesquida and Adam Sanjurjo take on No. 30 Christian Langmo and Adria Soriano Barrera of Miami (FL) in first-round action at 1:30 p.m.
