Personal records highlight busy day for Hogs at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas — Arkansas set multiple personal records as day two concluded at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, while the distance and field began work at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto Calif.

Senior Kemar Mowatt was the lone event winner in Texas, taking first in the 400 meter hurdles invitational with a time of 50.49.

Mowatt secured an early lead in the race and never surrendered it as he won by a comfortable margin, with the second place finisher more than a second behind him.

Senior Larry Donald followed up his seventh-place finish in yesterday’s 400 meter hurdles prelims with a fifth-place finish in today’s finals with a time of 51.15.

Shakiel Chatoo qualified for tomorrow’s 11 meter hurdles finals, as the distance medley relay team placed third in a tightly contested race with a time of 9:44.54.

Out west, multi event competitor Gabe Moore set multiple personal bests at the Stanford Invitational.

Moore began the day shaving nearly two-tenths of a second of of his previous best 110 meter hurdles time, and ended the day by adding more than 10 feet to his discus throw.

Moore will make a return to the decathlon in two weeks at the John McDonnell Invitational.

Sophomore Carter Persyn made his debut in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, posting a time of 8:55.81, while Alex Springer posted his first career javelin throw over 200 feet.
