AUBURN GAME: Another early start for Hogs hosting Tigers

Arkansas is becoming a fixture before noon.

The SEC announced that the No. 13 Razorbacks (4-1, 1-1 SEC) will return to Razorback Stadium to host No. 18 Auburn (4-1, 1-0 SEC) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 16.

Where you can watch the game, however, is still up in the air. The league will determine that next week and the game will be on either CBS or ESPN, which are the two most-available networks for the game.

The Hogs will travel to Oxford, Miss., to face No. 17 Ole Miss on Saturday.

Arkansas is coming off a whipping by Georgia, 37-0, last week.

This week the Tigers will take a turn with the Bulldogs in a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Jordan-Hare.

After being dismantled at Georgia, how far do Hogs fall in poll?

A close loss likely would have kept Arkansas in the conversation of top 10 considerations in the Associated Press’ Top 25.

Getting blown out completely knocked Arkansas out of the Top 10, but it really could have been worse.

The Hogs come in at No. 13 entering Week 6. They will face now 27th-ranked Ole Miss next week in what feels like a must-win game to remain a contender in SEC West for the 2021 season.

Arkansas (4-1, 1-1 SEC) never found consistency on offense against Georgia’s top-ranked defense at Samford Stadium. Quarterback KJ Jefferson went 8-of-13 passing for 64 yards. When coming in the fourth quarter, backup Malik Hornsby struggled as well, finishing 2-of-3 for 22 yards.

This season, the Hogs have capitalized on their ability to run the football between the trenches. They finished with a season low 78 yards on the ground. Running back Trelon Smith led the team with 22 yards. Raheim Sanders finished close behind with 21.

On the flipside, Georgia (5-0, 2-0 SEC) gave the voters a reason to question who belongs on the top spot. The Bulldogs finished with 273 yards on the ground and averaged 4.9 yards per carry as a team. Zamir White recorded three total touchdowns, including a blocked punt against Arkansas’ Reid Bauer in the closing minutes of the first quarter.

The Bulldogs will travel The Plains of Auburn to face off against the Tigers in the annual rivalry game.

With several marquee matchups in the SEC, A&M remained the one team to drop out of the Top 25 altogether.

Florida falls from No. 10 to No. 20 following a 20-13 road loss against Kentucky in Lexington.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M falls out of the rankings for the first time in two years after a stunning 26-22 loss to Mississippi State.

Ole Miss entered Saturday ranked No. 12 fell to No. 17 after a 42-21 loss to the Crimson Tide.

Auburn moves up to No. 18 after a come from behind road win against LSU. Kentucky joins the Top 25 for the first time this season, moving into the No. 16 spot.

GAMEDAY LIVE: Arkansas-Georgia live game updates as it happens

Georgia quarterback JT Daniels was a late scratch due to an injury that makes throwing painful and enter Stetson Bennett, who came on the second half of the opener last year to energize the Bulldogs’ win.

Arkansas won the opening toss and deferred to the second half.

1Q 12:39: Now there may be a quarterback controversy in Athens if this continues. Bennett directs a 9-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 4:14 with Zamir White walking into the end zone up the middle from 3 yards out. Georgia 7, Hogs 0

1Q 4:42: Georgia is showing the Razorbacks what a ground-and-pound offense looks like. The Hogs look like they did against Rice, committing two straight penalties, backing the offense up and going nowhere. Then the Bulldogs go 56 yards in 10 plays with Kendall Milton getting the final yard behind a gigantic mass of humanity that was playing offensive line on the goal line. Georgia 14, Hogs 0

1Q 4:30: Just when Hog fans didn’t think it could get any worse, there’s another blocked punt and this time it cost them a touchdown. Dan Jackson blocked the punt coming through and White fell on it in the end zone. This is getting out of hand fast. Georgia 21, Hogs 0

2Q 12:17: After the Hogs get some offense trickling down the field with a couple of key runs by KJ Jefferson, freshman Cam Little missed his first field goal of the year, from 37 yards out. Georgia 21, Hogs 0

2Q 7:38: Georgia starting to just control the game keeping the ball on the ground as Arkansas can’t get any offense moving against the Bulldogs. Jack Podlesny kicks a 46-yard field goal to cap a 9-play, 51-yard drive. Georgia 24, Hogs 0

3Q 10:05: Then penalties continue with the Hogs taking the second half kickoff and accumulating movement penalties and failing to get a single first down complicated by a shanked punt. Georgia takes the short field and moves 33 yards in 10 plays settling for a 30-yard field goal by Podlesny. Georgia 27, Hogs 0
