Hogs have 21-5 win over Little Rock in run-rule game

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — No. 5 Arkansas (26-6) throttled Little Rock (17-12), 21-5, in seven innings on Tuesday night at Baum-Walker Stadium to secure its eighth midweek win of the year and improve to 15-1 all-time against in-state foes.

The Razorbacks’ 21 runs mark the most they have scored in a game this season. Arkansas drew 15 walks, also a season high, and extended its streak of consecutive games with a home run to 28 in Tuesday night’s thrashing of the Trojans.

Arkansas scored nine in the bottom half of the first inning to take control of the ballgame, providing its pitching staff with plenty of run support. Jace Bohrofen, who finished the game 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a team-leading four RBI, collected two of his runs batted in on a single and a sacrifice fly during the Hogs’ explosive first inning.

Bohrofen came up to the plate again in the bottom of the third and socked a two-run homer to left, adding two more RBI to his total while extending the Razorbacks’ lead to 13-2. Later in the inning, Harold Coll swatted a two-run homer of his own to center, growing the Hogs’ advantage to 13.

The Razorback offense was far from finished, however, tacking on five more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Coll and Kendall Diggs, who entered the game as a pinch hitter and finished 2-for-2 with an RBI, each recorded run-scoring singles as Arkansas opened up an insurmountable lead.

Five Razorback batters, including Bohrofen, Coll and Diggs, posted multi-hit games in the lopsided win. Caleb Cali (2-for-3) and Peyton Holt (2-for-4) also tallied multiple base knocks on Tuesday night.

Seven Arkansas batters, meanwhile, logged multi-RBI games, led by Bohrofen’s four-RBI effort. Coll and Hunter Grimes each had three RBI in the win, while Cali, Holt, Tavian Josenberger and Hudson Polk drove in two runs apiece.

On the mound, Cody Adcock started for the Hogs and spun four innings of two-run ball to improve to 3-1 on the year. The right-hander struck out one while allowing five hits and issuing three walks before giving way to the bullpen.

True freshman left-hander Sean Fitzpatrick was impressive in relief for the Razorbacks, twirling two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to preserve the 21-5 run-rule win.

Arkansas and Little Rock conclude their two-game midweek series tomorrow afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, on SEC Network+ as the Hogs look to improve to 22-2 at home on the year.
