Pair of double-doubles lead Razorbacks past North Carolina A&T

FAYETTEVILLE — Boogie Fland and Jonas Aidoo each recorded double-doubles, while Trevon Brazile was one rebound shy of the feat, to lead Arkansas to a 95-67 victory over North Carolina A&T Saturday afternoon at Bud Walton Arena.

Overall, seven Razorbacks scored in double figures and Arkansas dished out a season-high 26 assists (on 37 made baskets).

Fland finished with 12 points and 11 assists to record his first career double-double. The last Razorback to have double-double in points and assists was Jalen Tate (15 & 10) versus Georgia in 2021. The last Razorback freshman to accomplish the feat was Courtney Fortson (12 & 10) versus Oklahoma in Dec. 2008. Fland has also dished out at least five assists in five straight games, marking the first time a Hog has done that since Jalen Harris in the 20189-19 season.

Aidoo tallied his 10th career double-double, and first as a Razorback, with his season-high 17 points and season-high 11 rebounds. He added a season-high three blocked shots.

Brazile came off the bench to score 11 points and grab nine rebounds while adding three blocked shots and a season-high three assists.

This marked the third time, and second consecutive game, at least six Razorbacks have scored in double figures. Other Hogs to reach double figures were Adou Thiero (14), Karter Knox (11), D.J. Wagner (10) and Billy Richmond III (10).

Arkansas native Ryan Forrest (Marion) led AT with 19 points and eight assists while Fayetteville native Landon Glasper scored 16 points.

Arkansas returns to Bud Walton Arena to host Oakland on Monday (Dec. 30). Tipoff is set for 7 pm and the game will be televised on ESPN2.

FIRST HALF: Arkansas 54, NC A&T 31

• This was the second time Arkansas has scored at least 50 points in a half this season (scored 60 vs UMES. Arkansas had only scored 50-plus four times in the previous four seasons.

• Trevon Brazile led the Hogs with 11 first-half points. Jonas Aidoo and Karter Knox each added nine points. Aidoo also had seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

• Arkansas had 15 assists, with just one turnover, on its 21 made baskets. The Aggies only had two assists on its 11 made baskets.

SECOND HALF: Arkansas 41, NC A&T 36

• Arkansas held A&T to 1-of-9 shooting from 3-point in the second half.

• Arkansas had 11 assists on 16 made baskets.

GAME NOTES:

• For the first time, Arkansas’ starting lineup was Boogie Fland, D.J. Wagner, Karter Knox, Adou Thiero and Jonas Aidoo.

• Arkansas won the opening tip. The Razorbacks have won the tip in 11 of 12 games.

• Jonas Aidoo scored game’s first points with an old fashion 3-point play at 19:48.

• Trevon Brazile and Zvonimir Ivisic were Arkansas’ first subs.

• Arkansas played without Johnell Davis. The Razorbacks have had at least one player miss all 12 games this season due to injury or illness.

• Boogie Fland finished with 11 assists. He is the first Hog to dish out at least five assists in five-straight games since Jalen Harris did so in six straight games during the 2018-19 season. In addition to today’s game, Fland also had five-plus assists at Miami (6), vs UTSA (7), vs Michigan (7) and vs UCA (9).

• Arkansas is 4-0 all-time versus North Carolina A&T.

• For the second time this season, Arkansas scored over 50 points in the paint.
