McPherson on playing Kansas State in Hall of Fame Classic

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Matchups have been finalized for the 2021 Hall of Fame Classic to take place Nov. 22-23 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

The Monday, Nov. 22 semifinal round will pit Illinois versus Cincinnati (5:30 p.m. on ESPNU) followed by Kansas State against Arkansas (8 p.m. on ESPN2).

The consolation and championships games are set for Tuesday, Nov. 23, and will be televised on ESPNEWS at 6 p.m. and ESPN2 at 8 p.m., respectively.

2021 Hall of Fame Classic

Semifinals – Monday, Nov. 22
5:30 p.m. — Cincinnati vs. Illinois (ESPNU)
8:00 p.m. — Arkansas vs. Kansas State (ESPN2)

Finals – Tuesday, Nov. 23
6:00 p.m. — Consolation Game (ESPNEWS)
8:30 p.m. — Championship Game (ESPN2)

The four programs will bring an impressive collective history to Kansas City, having combined to win three NCAA championships and reach 21 Final Fours.

Arkansas and Illinois were each top-10 finishers in last season’s national polls after reaching the NCAA Tournament, while Cincinnati has played in the NCAA Tournament in nine of the past 10 full seasons and K-State has reached the Big Dance nine times since 2008.

K-State is set to return four of its top-5 scorers from last season, including super senior Mike McGuirl, Davion Bradford, Selton Miguel and Nijel Pack.

In all, the team will return nine lettermen and features three transfers, including senior Mark Smith (Missouri), junior Markquis Nowell (Little Rock) and sophomore Ismael Massoud (Wake Forest)
