LIVE BLOG: Razorbacks roll to easy 70-0 win over UAPB in opener

Razorbacks open season in War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock against FCS UAPB with anticipation about the offense.

Even Sam Pittman probably didn’t think he would win the opener 70-0, even though UAPB was clearly over-matched in the season opener at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Ark.

The problem is they likely won’t see a whole lot of the real offense. Petrino isn’t going to run up the score on former Warren Lumberjack Alonzo Hampton, now the coach for the Golden Lions. He probably doesn’t think he needs to do that.

The big game is next week in Stillwater, Okla., against Oklahoma State. They open the season Saturday at home against defending FCS champion South Dakota State, who may not be an easy challenge. The Cowboys should win, but don’t be shocked if it’s competitive.

We’ll have the big plays from the game:

Q1 12:08: Ja’Quinden Jackson caps off an eight-play, 66-yard opening drive that began with Taylen Green under-throwing and off-target on a wide open Tyrone Broden down the middle of the field on the first play. Kyle Ramsey added the point-after. Hogs 7, Golden Lions 0

Q1 8:16: Green keeps it into the end zone after the Razorbacks held UAPB to a three-and-out. After the punter shanked it out of bounds, the Hogs only had to drive 40 yards in five plays to set up the scoring run. Hogs 14, Golden Lions 0

Q1 5:03: Jackson takes a simple little pitch around the left side and had a huge opening due as much to lack of interest by UAPB as anything else for a 46-yard run as this one’s out of hand before we’re anywhee near the end of the first quarter. Hogs 21, Golden Lions 0

Q1 1:12: Rodney Hill comes in at running back and gets a 4-yard score to finish off a seven-play, 40-yard drive that featured a lot of passing by Green, who was 6-of-11 in the first period for 70 yards. The Hogs rang up 211 yards of total offense to open the game. Hogs 28, Golden Lions 0

Q2 12:06: Green connects for first touchdown pass with Hogs, hitting a wide open Broden for a 9-yard score to start the second quarter. Hogs 35, Golden Lions 0

Q2 5:37: Green finally starting to settle down. This time he finds his tight end and drops in a perfect pass Ty Washington catches over the shoulder for a 23-yard score. With 357 yards of total offense by the Hogs in the first half, expect to see the backups in the final two quarters. Hogs 42, Golden Lions 0

Q2 :09: Green shows off his wheels, avoiding a sack, then breaking free down the right sideline, cutting back all the across the field and out-running everyone to the left corner of the end zone for a 36-yard scoring play. Hogs 49, Golden Lions 0

Both teams agree to play 10-minute quarters in second half.

Q3 6:13: Freshman running Braylen Russell runs up the middle from 9 yards out on first possession of second half. With that, the Hogs have now scored all 8 of their possessions in the game. We have no idea if they even brought a punter. Hogs 56, Golden Lions 0

Q4 8:14: Backup quarterback Malachi Singleton keeps from 4 yards out for a score long after the game was decided. Hogs 63, Golden Lions 0

Q4 :36: Running back Tyrell Reed scored from 4 yards out to cap a perfect offensive night, scoring 10 touchdowns on 10 offensive possessions for the final. Ramsey was 10-of-10 in extra points, which probably no one really saw coming in the opener. Hogs 70, UAPB 0
