Hogs fall to Tennessee on Friday night, 4-3

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas fell at home Friday night to Tennessee, 4-3, dropping to 8-8 overall this spring, 1-4 in SEC action.

Tennessee stole a close doubles point, as the Volunteers won 6-4 on court three, while taking court one 7-6 (8-6). At the doubles point clinch, court two was tied 6-6 (5-5).

Arkansas got behind 2-0, as Jose Alonso fell 6-1, 6-3 to Scott Jones on court six. No. 84 Jose Salazar was able to get Arkansas on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 25 Timo Stodder to improve to 3-4 against ranked opponents this season.

Tennessee got a point back, making it a 3-1 match, with a win on court four. Josh Howard-Tripp fell 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 to Adam Walton. Once again, Arkansas answered. The Razorbacks got a win at the No. 3 spot, as Oscar Mesquida brought Arkansas within one at 3-2 with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win over Luis Valero.

The Volunteers clinched the match with a win on court five, as Nicaise  Muamba defeated Alex Reco 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to take a 4-2 lead. After the clinch, Arkansas was able to close out the final court, as Adam Sanjurjo defeated Preston Touliatos 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.

Arkansas returns to action on Sunday, as the Razorbacks host No. 14 Georgia at 1 p.m. at the Billingley Tennis Center.
