Hari’s sweep in sprints highlights Razorbacks at John McDonnell Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas sprinters were firing on all cylinders Friday afternoon as the Razorbacks wrapped up action at the John McDonnell Invitational with Kris Hari’s 100-meter and 200-meter sweep highlighting day two.

The Razorbacks collected seven first-place finishes on the day while finishing with 15 top-three finishes Friday afternoon.

Arkansas’ 4×100-meter relay of Josh Oglesby, Hunter Woodhall, Kris Hari, and Roy Ejiakuekwu ran away from the competition finishing more than a full second ahead of second-place Oklahoma State (41.00). The relay time is a season-best for Arkansas.

Hari returned to the track for the 100-meter, setting a lifetime-best clocking 10.31 that falls just outside the all-time top-10 list.

Hari led an Arkansas contingent that finished first, second and seventh as Ejiakuekwu and Oglseby crossed the line in times of 10.43 and 10.61, respectively.

Hari would return later to compete in the 200-meters again setting a lifetime-best of 20.95 with teammates Rashad Boyd (21.15) and Ejiakuekwu (21.16) took fifth and seventh-place.

Hunter Woodhall executed a great start and backstretch to set up a lifetime-best performance in the 400-meters, running 46.46 for second-place.

John Winn (47.13), Travean Caldwell (47.32), James Milholen (47.90), and Rhayko Schwartz (48.27) followed in fourth, fifth, seventh, and ninth-place.

Kieran Taylor’s time of 1:49.89 in the 800-meters led Arkansas as the sophomore took third.

Senior Cameron Griffith finished fourth in 1:50.39 and was followed by Chase Pareti (1:51.78) in fifth, Ethan Moehn in sixth (1:52.36) and Eugene Grayson III rounding out the top-10 in 10th-place running 1:53.67.

Matt Young turned in a lifetime-best in the 1,500-meters finishing fourth in 3:49.18.

Arkansas swept the 110-meter hurdles with Carl Elliot III’s lifetime-best leading the way. Elliot III needed only 13.92 seconds to complete the ten barrier race.

Teammate Shakiel Chattoo was second in 14.03 while Tre’Bien Gilbert (14.33), and Gabe Moore (14.68) took third and fourth-place.

Nick Hilson took top honors in the 400-meter hurdles with his season-best performance in the 400-meter hurdles posting a time of 51.89 for first-place.

Daniel Spejcher closed out his first collegiate decathlon in eighth-place with a two-day score of 5,790-pts through 10-events.

Arkansas’ “A” 4×400-meter relay of Caldwell, Hilson, Jalen Brown, and Winn teamed up to run a season-best time of 3:08.56 in a first-place finish.

Sam Kempka won the shot put at 18.40m (60-4.50), with Jeff Rogers earning a bronze finish with a best mark of 17.56m (57-7.50).

Sullins (56.26m/164-11) and Rogers (47.57m/156-1) returned for discus finishing first and fourth with Gabe Moore competing as well taking eighth-place (44.39m/124-1).

Rogers’ mark was a personal-best while Moore doubled back to also compete in the open pole vault clearing 4.50m (14-9) for fourth-place.

Arkansas will split between three meets next week as the sprints and relays head south to Waco, Texas for the Michael Johnson Invitational Apri; 19-20 while the distance squads head to the west coast for the Mt. SAC Invitational and Bryan Clay Invitational Apr. 18-20.
