FAYETTEVILLE — Two Razorback freshmen earned spots at the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio, next week, as Brooke Schultz and Maha Amer finished second and ninth, respectively, in the three-meter finals at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Minneapolis Tuesday.

Amer becomes the third Razorback freshman to qualify for the NCAA Championships, as Schultz qualified Monday in the one-meter and swimmer Peyton Palsha was selected by the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee last week to compete in the 1650 freestyle.

After finishing fourth in prelims, Schultz dove a school and personal record six-dive score of 391.50 to finish second in the finals with an overall score of 727.75.

It is the seventh time this season Schultz has broken a school record and the sixth time in the three-meter.

Amer qualified for finals, after scoring a personal-best 327.40 in the prelims to finish sixth. In the finals, she dove a 311.20 to finish ninth with a running score of 638.60 to claim the final qualifying spot.

Arkansas was able to send three divers to the finals, but senior Nicole Gillis came up short. After finishing 15th in the prelims with a score of 301.00, Gillis added 318.20 in to finals to finish 13th overall with a score of 619.20.

In prelims, junior Marissa Green finished 22nd, scoring a 244.55, while sophomore Caroline Welch scored 189.15 to finish 40th.
