This was the worst showing of any Arkansas quarterback I have seen in my 31 years as a Arkansas native. And we havent had many good quarterbacks in that time period. Mallet being the best, then Matt Jones, Mitch Mustain ( who Nutt ruined because of his ego and only at number 3 because of so little time at Arkansas and no more game sample at USC ), Clint Stoerner. The last one borders the fence as being on the same level as the rest that played for the Hogs, below average QBs that have trouble managing football games because they aren’t good enough to go out their and play to win. But never have I seen any play this bad not Casey Dick not even Tyler Allen. I don’t understand why Coach Morris won’t just put KJ Jefferson in now, let him get his lumps and bruises of going through his learning curb and first time SEC starts out of the way and behind him now in 2019, while building game time experience and chemistry with his receivers Treylon Burks and Trey Knox. So in the next couple years he is experienced and is familiar with the body language and habits of his WR’s, giving him and the rest of the program a better shot of getting back to being a top 25 program and out of this twilight zone of horror we have been in the last 8 years. The worst decision that the University of Arkansas Athletic Department has ever made outside of firing Nolan Richardson, was firing Bobby Petrino. Hell Louisville gave him a 2nd chance. If Morris doesn’t have us in the top 25 in 2 years, I say its about time to swallow that good ole boy southern bible belt pride and ego of the U of A and give Petrino a call with an offer to make him the 4th maybe 5th highest paid coach behind Saban, Smart, Fisher, and possibly Orgiron. And get us back to where he left us in the Top 10. Post season number 5 and begining of the season at number 8. The man had us at number 3 in the country that season and we won the Cotton bowl. Not to mention that the year before if it wasnt for the punt return team diving on the football in the open field after a blocked punt, instead of easily scopping and walking into the endzone against Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl; we would of won that bowl game too. The man was a great recruiter, college coach, quarterback developer, and offensive genius. He brought a certain swagger and style that sold tickets, memorabilia, and got the U of A way more national TV time and exposure which helps bring in even more recruiting ontop of the winning and high powered, high scoring, flashy fun to watch and Im sure play in offense. The game of football has changed alot in the past 10 to 15 years. When the game was all about the running game and smash mouth defense, we had one of the best coaches for that style of play as well as being so personable and a players first coach ontop of that and we were successful for years. Were rank in the top 25 and went to Bowl games 7 out of his 10 years, and got as high as number 5 in the country under Coach Nutt with D-Mac 1,647yds with 14 TD rushing and 149yds 1 TD receiving, 262yds KO returns 1TD 7 of 9 passing for 69 yds 3 TD with 2,127yds 19 TD in 1 year,Peyton, Monk 11 receiving touchdowns 960yds, Damien Williams, Mitch Mustain, Andrew Norman, Ben Cleveland, Jamal Anderson, Antwain Robinson, Freddie Fairchild all coming out of Arkansas High Schools; Then we had Felix Jones 1,000yd rushing, Michael Smith,Chris Houston shut down corner, Materreal Richardson, Sam Olajabutu, Randy Kelly, Jamar Love from out of state. Because we had a players coach that was a good coach for the style of football that was played during his era.
With Petrino we had the same kind of team finally with Broderick Green, Joe Adams, Jerius Wright, D.J Williams, Ben Cleveland, Cobi Hamilton, Van Stumon, Chris Cragg, Jake Bequette, Alex Tejada all from Arkansas High Schools and Ryan Mallet, Greg Childs, Javontee Herndon, Dennis Johnson, Ronnie Wingo, Jerico Nelson, Jerry Franklin, Tramoine Broadway from out of state. He would bring us talent like this and tap both the well not only from all across the country but keep the at home talent in Arkansas like it should be and bring us back to relevance in the SEC West, the Top 25, and back in the national spotlight where we belong.
Coach Morris you have 2 more years to get us to being a 9 win team. If you havent done that by then you should be fired. Play KJ Jefferson and give us and yourself the best chance possible at having a successful program at the University at Arkansas. The Hog call has become silent because there are no Hogs to call to war.
