The Arkansas baseball roster keeps changing.
The Hogs lost another arm Tuesday when left-handed pitcher Colin Fisher entered the transfer portal, according to a source who spoke with Daniel Fair at HawgBeat.
Fisher, a Noble, Okla., native, spent three seasons in Fayetteville.
He was one of the more experienced arms in the rotation this past year, making 10 starts among the 18 appearances he logged on the mound.
Over 56.1 innings of work this season, Fisher punched out 58 batters against just 17 walks.
His ERA came in at 5.59, which leaves some room for improvement heading into what could be a pivotal next chapter.
Draft eligibility adds another layer
There’s more to this story than a simple roster departure. Fisher is in his money year and is draft-eligible, according to Fair’s report at HawgBeat.
That gives him real leverage with MLB clubs should he hear his name called in the upcoming draft.
His decision to enter the portal doesn’t close the door on pro ball — it may actually open it wider.
Tuesday marked the final day to enter the transfer portal, so Fisher got in just under the wire.
Fisher is 10th Razorback out door this cycle
His departure makes him the 10th Arkansas player to enter the portal in this cycle, per HawgBeat.
The Razorbacks have seen a steady stream of roster movement this offseason, with Fisher joining a list that includes fellow pitchers Joey Lorenzini, Jacob Imoto and Grant Wren, along with position players Cayden Mitchell, Tyler Holland, Landon Schaefer, Carson Brumbaugh, Carson Willis and Alexander Peck.
That’s a significant wave of departures for a program that made a deep NCAA Tournament run this past spring.
Dave Van Horn’s staff will have work to do this offseason to fill the holes left behind.
