The Arkansas baseball transfer portal door swung open one more time Tuesday.
First baseman Alexander Peck became the ninth Razorback to enter the portal this offseason, according to a source, with Tuesday serving as the final day players could make that move.
His departure adds another name to what’s been a lengthy list of roster changes for Dave Van Horn’s team heading into next season.
Peck is a rising sophomore who came to Fayetteville from Franklin, Tenn., and got his feet wet at the college level this past year.
He suited up for the Hogs in 16 games, stepping to the plate 25 times and coming away with three hits and three RBI.
Peck drew three walks and punched out seven times across those appearances.
But one at-bat stood above the rest. On May 8, Peck dug in against eventual national champion Oklahoma and went yard in the bottom of the fifth inning, helping Arkansas pull away for a 12-2 victory at Baum-Walker Stadium.
It was his first home run in a Razorbacks uniform, and by the sound of it, one he won’t soon forget.
“My first AB, I was a little nervous, but after that, I got my feet under me and my mindset just completely changed,” Peck said after the win. “I was just thinking nobody could beat me. And when I hit that home run, I was floating around the bases. There’s no better feeling.”
That kind of confidence doesn’t come easy as a freshman seeing limited action, and it made Peck a player worth watching going forward. Now he’ll get that chance somewhere else.
Long list of departures for Arkansas this cycle
Peck’s exit wraps up a busy portal cycle for the Razorbacks’ roster.
All nine players who’ve departed cover multiple positions including left-handed pitchers Joey Lorenzini and Jacob Imoto, infielders Cayden Mitchell, Tyler Holland and Carson Brumbaugh, infield/outfield option Landon Schaefer, right-hander Grant Wren, catcher Carson Willis and now Peck at first base.
That’s a significant amount of movement for a program that made a deep postseason run and will be working to reload its depth across the diamond heading into 2027.
