Kiki Remensperger put her name in the Arkansas record book Sunday. A win would’ve been nice, too.
The junior setter had 30 assists in Gainesville, Florida, and went past 2,000 for her career. She’s now ninth on the program’s all-time list.
No. 4 Florida wasn’t in the mood to share the day. The Gators swept the Razorbacks 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 on their home floor.
Arkansas is 11-11 overall and 3-8 in SEC play. Four regular-season matches are left.
The Hogs got close late in all three sets. The problem was how each one started.
Florida ran out to an early lead every time, and Arkansas was stuck playing catch-up.
Sophomore Parker Duncan had the best day of any hitter on the floor. Her 14 kills were tops on both teams.
She didn’t miss much, either. Duncan had four errors and hit .357.
Freshman libero Madi Benne picked up 13 digs. She’s now over 250 for her career.
Remensperger served three aces.
Gaby Cornier, a former Gator, added two more against her old team. The Razorbacks finished with five.
Duncan also had a solo block in the second set during Arkansas’ best run of the match.
Florida scored the first seven points of the day. It took Arkansas a while to settle in after that.
It was 15-9 Gators at the technical timeout. Duncan put down three kills, Florida made an error and it was 18-14.
The Razorbacks then saved three set points. Cornier’s two aces were part of that. Florida still won it 25-22.
Set 2 looked a lot like Set 1. The Gators went up 7-1, and Arkansas called timeout.
Florida led 15-6 at the media break. Aleki Alexander had two kills to make it 19-14.
Arkansas then scored four in a row on Duncan’s block and two Remensperger aces. Florida called time at 22-19 and finished it 25-20.
This was the closest one. Duncan’s kill pulled the Hogs within 4-3, and Romani Thurman’s kill off hands tied it at 5 after a challenge went Arkansas’ way.
Florida scored five straight to go up 10-5. The Razorbacks went on a 7-3 run, with Duncan getting the last two kills, and trailed 14-13.
The Gators got to 20 first. Arkansas stayed close at 22-21.
The Hogs tied it after a Florida timeout, but a service error put the Gators back in front. Arkansas tied it again. Florida scored the last two points.
Arkansas doesn’t get much rest. The road trip continues Wednesday, Nov. 4, at LSU.
The match starts at 6 p.m. and will be on SEC Network.
