The Arkansas volleyball sweep kept rolling Friday as the Razorbacks knocked off two teams in one day without dropping a single set.
Arkansas started early with a win over Robert Morris and then closed the night by holding off host Towson.
Both wins came in straight sets and pushed the Hogs to 6-2 on the season.
Fourteen different players stepped on the court across the two matches.
Freshman libero Madi Benne barely left the floor and racked up 20 digs and nine assists between both games.
Sophomore Journey Peppers also played all six sets and finished with 11 total blocks, a number that pushed her past 100 blocks for her career.
The Razorbacks got plenty of firepower up front too.
Fifth-year outside hitter Laci Bohannan led the way with 13 kills against Robert Morris and made just one error on 30 swings for a sharp .400 hitting percentage.
Parker Duncan matched that energy in the second match with a team-high 15 kills against Towson while hitting .357.
Arkansas also got strong setting from both of its juniors. Livia Niu ran the offense against Robert Morris and posted a career-best 30 assists to go with 13 digs and three blocks.
Kiki Remensperger took over against Towson and dished out 37 assists with 10 digs, marking her third double-double of the year, plus two blocks.
Hogs handle Robert Morris in morning
Arkansas jumped out fast in the opening set against the Colonials, using an early 6-0 run to grab an 8-2 lead.
Robert Morris settled in a bit after that but couldn’t slow down the Hogs for long.
A 4-0 stretch capped by a Bohannan kill pushed the lead to 18-10, and Arkansas closed out the set 25-13.
The second set started closer, with the Colonials holding an early edge before Arkansas answered with a 4-0 run to go up 11-8.
The Hogs kept adding on and reached 20 points behind an ace from Niu.
Robert Morris called timeout but couldn’t stop the bleeding, and a Peppers kill finished the set 25-18.
Robert Morris put up a fight in the third, jumping ahead 8-4 with an early run of its own.
Arkansas battled back to tie it and later grabbed a small lead before the Colonials tied things up at 15-14 off a Razorback error.
The Hogs answered with a 4-1 run keyed by a kill from Pavliska, but Robert Morris refused to fold and tied the set at 23-23.
That’s when Arkansas found its finishing touch, with a kill from Bohannan and a block from Lily Dudley and Elsie Law sealing a 25-23 set and the sweep.
Towson pushes Hogs before falling in straight sets
The evening match against Towson turned into a much tighter fight.
The first set went back and forth before Arkansas pulled ahead with a 4-0 run that included a block from Peppers and Duncan.
Towson clawed back to tie it at 17-17, and even after the Hogs went up by three, the Tigers tied the set twice more, at 23-23 and 24-24.
Arkansas needed extra points to close it out, finally winning 26-24 on a Towson error and a kill from Duncan.
Towson came out hot in the second set with a 3-0 run, but Arkansas answered with a kill from Duncan that sparked a bigger 7-1 surge.
The Hogs built a comfortable cushion by the technical break and never let the Tigers back in, reaching 20 points first off a kill from Aleki Alexander before a Laurendine kill closed the set 25-16.
Arkansas made sure there was no late drama in the third set, opening with a 6-1 run that featured two aces from Laurendine.
The Hogs stretched their lead to as many as eight points, and a four-point service run with an ace from Remensperger put Arkansas one point from the finish at 24-13.
Towson picked up two more points, but a final kill from Duncan closed the match 25-15 and completed the sweep.
Up next for the Razorbacks
Arkansas will wrap up the Towson Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12, against Howard at 11 a.m.
It’ll be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The match won’t be streamed but fans can follow along through StatBroadcast.
