Arkansas adds LED lights and lasers to Razorback Stadium

Fans walking into Razorback Stadium this fall will notice something new overhead.

Arkansas is getting a full lighting makeover before the 2026 season kicks off and it’s built to turn every home game into a show.

The university announced the project this week and it centers on [Musco’s Show-Light Pro entertainment system with its SportsCluster Lighting System.

More than 250 new LED lights are going up along with eight Clubmax 40 lasers. The Razorbacks are also adding a new audio system that athletic director Hunter Yurachek called state-of-the-art.

The new setup gives the Hogs a control system that can run custom logo projections, laser shows and other in-game effects.

That means pregame intros, big plays and timeouts could all come with a visual boost fans haven’t seen inside the stadium before.

Where Hogs stand among SEC lighting upgrades

Arkansas isn’t the first SEC school to add this kind of tech but the timing says a lot. Alabama and Georgia started the LED lighting trend back in 2019 and most of the conference has followed since.

Arkansas and Missouri are actually among the last two schools in the SEC to switch to multi-color LED lighting.

The laser piece is what really sets the Razorbacks apart. Arkansas and Auburn are believed to be the only two SEC programs with laser systems built into their stadium lighting.

Auburn, which also uses Musco, debuted its laser show in 2025 against Ball State.

Oklahoma uses Musco lighting too and brought in an outside production company for the College Football Playoff, but its package doesn’t include lasers.

Yurachek said the upgrade is about more than just looks.

“We’re excited to add these new LED lights along with a laser system to our game day atmosphere and experience inside Razorback Stadium,” he said. “Adding these elements along with a few more elements will enhance our game day experience for our fans while creating a hostile environment to help our team win. We can’t wait to see it all in action this fall.”

Night games’ roots at Razorback Stadium

Lighting isn’t new at the venue, but permanent lights didn’t arrive until 1989.

Before that, night games for Arkansas were played at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The first true night game at Razorback Stadium came on Nov. 11, 1989, when the Hogs beat Baylor 19-10.

This season will bring plenty of night action too.

Tulsa comes to Fayetteville in Week 3 for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Games against Tennessee and Missouri could also kick off at night, with start times set for sometime between 2:30 and 7 p.m.

South Carolina’s visit will likely start or finish under the lights as well. Georgia and LSU are the only two home games locked in for an 11 a.m. or noon start.

All of this arrives during a big transition for the program.

Arkansas opens preseason practice on Aug. 5, the first camp under new coach Ryan Silverfield.

The Razorbacks will open the regular season at home against North Alabama on Sept. 5 at 3:15 p.m. on the SEC Network.

Three key takeaways

  • Arkansas is installing more than 250 LED lights and eight Clubmax 40 lasers as part of a Musco Show-Light Pro system.
  • The Razorbacks and Auburn are believed to be the only SEC teams with laser systems built into their stadium lighting.
  • Arkansas opens the Ryan Silverfield era on Sept. 5 against North Alabama at 3:15 p.m. on the SEC Network.
