Arkansas found its newest big man on Tuesday.
Caleb Ourigou, a four-star center out of Atlanta, announced his commitment to the Razorbacks after weeks of visits and mounting interest from some of the sport’s biggest programs.
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Overtime Elite standout picked Arkansas over BYU, UConn and Kentucky, closing a recruitment that heated up fast this spring.
Ourigou wrapped up his recruitment with a trip to Fayetteville, capping a swing that included stops at each of his other three finalist schools.
Sources have told multiple media outlets the Hogs left a strong impression during that visit and it gave John Calipari’s staff the edge they needed to close the deal.
The big man explained what pushed him toward Arkansas, saying Calipari “coached a lot of bigs and he produced more NBA players out of all the college coaches and I really like that.”
He added that he likes the style of play and how the staff treats its players.
A frontcourt piece Arkansas badly needed
Arkansas came into this cycle stacked at guard. Names like Jordan Smith Jr., JJ Andrews, Abdou Toure and Jeremiah Wilkinson are already joining next year’s backcourt mix alongside returning guard Billy Richmond.
What the roster lacked was size up front and that’s exactly where Ourigou fits.
His length and strength give the Hogs a body who can bang inside against SEC frontlines.
Arkansas needed that kind of presence after struggling for interior depth and Calipari’s staff made the position a priority target all spring.
Ourigou ranks as the No. 55 overall prospect in the 247Sports 2027 rankings, a number that reflects a huge jump after a strong spring and summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Playing for the NY Rens, he’s averaging 12.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks a game through 11 EYBL contests this summer while shooting 63.7 percent from the field.
Re-classification decision still to come
The commitment comes with a twist. Ourigou hasn’t decided whether he’ll reclassify into the 2026 class and join Arkansas’ roster right away or stick with his current 2027 grouping.
That call is expected to land after Peach Jam wraps up this week.
If he does reclassify Arkansas would add an immediate contributor to a roster that already carries the No. 1 ranked class in the country.

The Hogs held that top spot before Ourigou’s pledge and kept it afterward giving Calipari’s staff another building block no matter which class the big man ends up choosing.
Arkansas fans finally have an answer on one of the spring’s biggest recruiting battles.
Ourigou chose the Hogs and that decision alone should ease some of the frontcourt worry hanging over next season’s roster.
