Razorbacks have some marquee games in very challenging schedule
Notre Dame will play in Razorback Stadium in September, but some challenging road games early and in November
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas will play a historic schedule in 2025 with first-ever matchups against Notre Dame and Arkansas State early in the season was how the press release from Arkansas Communications began.
It’s the end that could be a big hill to climb for a team with 24 (as of late Wednesday). With the exception of a relatively easy opener, the rest of the schedule may depend on how teams handle the annual rebuild of college rosters these days.
After opening the season in Fayetteville against Alabama A&M (Aug. 30), the Razorbacks begin a four-game stretch that features games in four different stadiums.
The first-ever game between Arkansas and Arkansas State is set to take place inside War Memorial Stadium on Sept. 6. The Hogs and Red Wolves will make history as the state’s two largest universities meet on the gridiron for the first time.
Back-to-back road games at Ole Miss (Sept. 13) and at Memphis (Sept. 20) make it four stadiums in four weeks for Arkansas. The Razorbacks will play Memphis for just the sixth time and the first time in Memphis since 1998 when Houston Nutt’s first team beat the Tigers 23-9 as the fifth victory of an eight-game winning streak to start the season.
The Hogs welcome the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium for the first time on Sept. 27. The two programs have never met prior to September’s showdown and will play the second game of a home-and-home series at Notre Dame in 2028. The first of two open dates follows the tilt with the Irish on Oct. 4.
A trip to Rocky Top to take on Tennessee welcomes the Hogs out of the first bye week on Oct. 11. Arkansas won 24-20 in the team’s last trip to Knoxville in 2015 and has won four straight games against the Vols dating back to 2011. Three-consecutive home games start on Oct. 18 when Texas A&M comes to Fayetteville for the first time since 2013.
Auburn comes to town on Oct. 25 followed by a visit from Mississippi State on Nov. 1 to wrap up the Razorbacks’ three-game homestand before the second open date of the season.
Rivalry games on the road at LSU (Nov. 15) in the Battle of the Golden Boot and at Texas (Nov. 22) along with the Battle Line Rivalry against Missouri (Nov. 29) close out the final month of the regular season. The Hogs will play in Austin, Texas for the first time since 2008 and just the third time since leaving the Southwest Conference.
