Things I think I know — Week Five

What stood out to Derek Ruscin this past weekend in the college football world.

I’m not going to waste any time this week. The sooner I finish, the sooner I can nap and go back to NOT watching the NFL.

  • I think Arkansas’ O-Line is better. New Mexico State has a feisty pass rush and the Hogs did not allow one sack. Sure Austin Allen got hit, but it was nothing like some of the games we have seen in recent memory.
  • Arkansas’ passing game will be fine. The only way for quarterbacks and receivers to be on the same page is to put in the work. In practice, in games. It takes time. Its like smoking ribs, you just have to let them cook.
  • They should have used Cole Kelley more on Saturday vs. the Aggies.
  • Butch Jones will be fired.
  • I was wrong about Mississippi State being good.
  • I was right about Ed Orgeron being a horrible hire at LSU.
  • Penn State feels like a playoff team to me.
  • Clemson vs. Alabama round III would be bad for college football.
  • Having only two good teams in the SEC (Alabama & Georgia) is bad for the conference.
  • Did I mention they will fire Butch Jones?
  • The Arkansas 3-4 switch was overblown by the media. No matter what defense you put on the field at this school, they will give up between 24-28 points a game. That is, unless you massively upgrade the talent coming into the Razorback football program.
  • If Louisivlle A.D. Tom Jurich is fired, Bobby Petrino will be a head coach in the SEC again next year.
  • Bret Bielema has zero faith and confidence in any field goal kicker and I don’t blame him. When coaches see things in practice and then don’t see them on the game field, it makes the question everything.

  • I forgot to tell you that Tennessee is going to fire Butch Jones.

Enjoy the week everyone!
