Razorbacks’ Mike Neighbors, players with media Thursday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas is leaving town this week and won’t be back for a couple of weeks. They are headed to Croatia and Greece for games. First, they’ve got a four-hour layover in Atlanta after traveling from Fayetteville.
Razorbacks coach Mike Neighbors and players Jersey Wolfenbarger, Saylor Poffenbarger and Sasha Goforth met with the media Thursday morning before the practice as they get ready to head out.
The Hogs found out the opponents for its 2023 European Tour. Arkansas will depart for Croatia on Saturday, Aug. 5 and will return back to the U.S. on Monday, Aug. 14. Arkansas will play two games in Croatia and one in Greece.
The Hogs will start out the trip in Split, Croatia, bus to Dubrovnik, Croatia, and then finish things up with a flight to Athens, Greece. The NCAA allows universities to partake in a foreign trip every four years, with this year being the first one for the women’s basketball program since 2018, as well as second in the Mike Neighbors’ era when he took that team to Italy.
The Hogs will play two Croatian opponents, the InCroatia AllStars in Split and ŽKK Budućnost Podgorica in Dubrovnik. The Hogs will wrap up their time in Europe against Canada’s University of Regina on Thursday. Regina will be in Athens to play four other NCAA schools, including a 2023-24 opponent in Florida State, as well as Baylor, Rutgers and Washington State.
The games will not be streamed, but live updates during the games on Twitter (@RazorbackWBB) and postgame box scores will be available.
The Hogs will participate in many fun activities while abroad. This includes a tour of Split and the entrance to Diocletian’s Palace, a city tour of Dubrovnik, a look at the Game of Thrones site, a private boat tour to the Elaphiti Islands, city tour of Athens with the Acropolis and Plaka, time spent in Vouliagmeni Beach and a three-island boat tour in Greece, among other activities.
