It apparently is end of road for Devo with Razorbacks
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Davonte “Devo” Davis’ time with the Arkansas Razorbacks has apparently come to an end, according to multiple media reports Wednesday afternoon. The junior from Jacksonville has entered the transfer portal, although where that could land him isn’t exactly known.
After having to take a couple of breaks during the season to get himself straightened out, it will be interesting to see what teams might possibly have an interest in a guard that was electric during a couple of Elite Eight runs and a Sweet 16 appearance.
This past season, Davis averaged 5.9 points on a career-low 36.3% shooting from the field, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists over the course of 30 games.
He also had some of the more memorable moments in the last quarter century of Razorback basketball. As a freshman in the 2021 Sweet 16 against Oral Roberts, Davis hit a game-winning jumper from eight feet out with 4 seconds left to give the Razorbacks a 72-70 win and advance the program to its first Elite Eight appearance since 1995.
In the round of 32, Davis scored 25 points against No. 1 seed Kansas as the Razorbacks stunned the Jayhawks with a 72-71 win to advance to the team’s third consecutive Sweet 16 appearance. Davis also pulled down eight rebounds before fouling out of the game. His emotional postgame interview will go down as one of the more memorable moments of the entire tournament.
Davis is the fourth Razorback from last season’s roster to announce plans to transfer, joining guard Joseph Pinion, forward Denijay Harris and guard Keyon Menifield.
