FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As people have clamored for the past few weeks about Arkansas needing to make a change at quarterback, there will be changes.

Maybe not with Taylen Green, who has been the starter this year and is expected to be there next season, but in the guy most were wanting there. Redshirt freshman Malachi Singleton announced his intentions to transfer Monday afternoon on his social media account.

The redshirt freshman passer should be one of the more sought after players in the country this offseason due to his one year of guidance under known quarterback whisperer and Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino. Singleton was offered by nearly 20 FBS programs including Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Miami, Louisville and Virginia Tech but ultimately chose the Razorbacks over two other finalists Georgia and UCF.

One major program to watch early on as a potential landing spot for Singleton is Florida State as former UCF coach Gus Malzahn was hired away to take over offensive play calling duties after leaving the Knights last week. The Seminoles are expected to rehaul its offensive philosophy to Malzahn’s power spread attack which fits Singleton’s abilities.

Also on Monday, current Razorbacks linebacker Xavian Worthy and defensive lineman Cam Ball announced they were returning to the team for 2025. In a week where Hogs coach Sam Pittman is dealing with hips replacement surgery, players coming and going plus now question marks around both offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino and defensive coordinator Travis Williams returning, it was a bit of good news he needed.

Petrino is reportedly being linked to the Charlotte head coaching job as they look to rebuild a young program, bringing him onboard for the exposure and development. Williams was rumored as a possible replacement at Florida State, coached by former UCA player Mike Norvell.

The Seminoles hired Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White on Monday, according to multiple media sources.

Considering the season just ended Saturday with a disappointing 28-21 loss at Missouri, this is just the start of the wildest part of the year with college football. We’ll have more people coming and going over the next few days. That is one thing guaranteed.
