Procrastination can be an art form. It really can.
Every week. No, every day, I find new, more creative ways to come up with reasons to delay completing a task I need to finish.
Just ask my editor Andy Hodges. (Editor’s note: You don’t want the answer.)
I have literally found a flea on a dog and twisted that scenario enough to validate excusing myself from attending a doctor’s appointment. What’s worse is the dog was not even mine.
I once even delayed taking out the trash because a Coke can had recently been put tossed in there, and I convinced myself that ants would be able to smell that drop of sugary soda from a mile away leading to their invasion of the trash can.
I mean, honestly, am I wrong?
Although not my original intent when I started piecing this together, this brings me to the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees.
Seriously, guys, what’s the holdup? We all know what you are going to do. We are just not sure when you’re going do it. Speculation is a loss to Vanderbilt this weekend will seal the deal.
Just in case you are unsure to what I refer, let me drop a hint by stating I do, for the most part, like Hunter Yurachek. I think he possesses many great qualities.
I also feel he is a big fan of the programs and the university itself. Just like a lot of other athletic directors out there, he has been handed a bad deal in certain things.
Do not get me wrong, he has his flaws. He has really struggled with the NIL era in college football.
He has had issues selling the football program to top tier coaches. No, correct that. He has had issues selling the football program to top tier AND middle tier coaches.
Yurachek also does not seem to interact with our fanbase via social media. Not that he has to, but he has stated he will post something and then does not read the replies. That shows a little bit of pretentiousness to me.
Granted, he is not the only person who does this. Even some of Arkansas’s media take the same approach. The difference is they have never come right out and stated it publicly.
Really, my only personal distaste for the man stems from my understanding he has interviewed for more than one open athletic director position during his time in Arkansas.
Despite all that, the role of athletic directors across the landscape of college sports has changed phenomenally since we had our time with Frank Broyles.
In fact, in the perception of many, it is not even considered a long-term position. Yes, there are some exceptions, but not many.
Do I want Hunter Yurachek to be fired? No, not if his errors can be corrected and fast. To me he seems like a genuine, nice guy. Then again, maybe it is time to move forward.
I would, however, like to make a statement to those who are calling for the head of Ryan Silverfield. Give the guy a chance.
He has barely been here for half a season, and some of you guys are expecting to turn around from the mess that he was left instantaneously.
Should we be better than we are?
Yes, but we should have better than we have been for the past five years … for the past 10 years … Dare I say all the way back to Bobby Petrino, one good year with Bret Bielema and another with Sam Pittman notwithstanding?
Maybe Hunter’s time has reached its expiration date.
Oh, and there is a ball game this weekend. Arkansas plays Vanderbilt in Nashville, and if the Razorbacks do not win, the board of trustees may prove me to be a hypocrite.
Bye, bye, Hunter.
Vanderbilt 37, Arkansas 24
Random Thought
Kane North wants to know why Arkansas at Vandy has the prime-time slot when Kentucky has as many wins as those two teams combined.

A moderately fancy meal and a movie will no doubt ease my pain tonight.
