Arkansas’ 34-27 loss to Colorado State last Saturday night hasn’t softened Joe T. Robinson High School three-star defensive end Zach Williams’ commitment at all.

“I didn’t see much because I was sick and took medicine that made me drowsy,”Williams said.” But Rome wasn’t built in a day. Like all football teams, they need work but I believe their creating something special.”

Here are some other points from our conversation:

What was the key factor in your commitment?

“I think what made me do it was the atmosphere and the special feeling I got every time I was there,” Williams said. “I felt like I was at home and I was very comfortable.”

Williams has a solid relationship with the Arkansas coaching staff.

“My relationship with the coaching staff is great,” Williams said. “I talk to Coach (Steve) Caldwell (Chad) Morris and (Barry) Lunney all the time.”

Williams listed his strengths as a football player.

“I think my strengths are my quickness and speed,” Williams said.

What makes Arkansas different from any other school recruiting him?

“Arkansas is different because they seemed to care about me as an individual inside and outside of football,” Williams said. “From a coaching standpoint they were the only ones that recruited me as a defensive end instead of an OLB and they’re genuine about their work.”

Williams is loving the newly-renovated Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

“The new renovations make the stadium look so much more modern and futuristic,” Williams said. “It’s by far one of my favorites.”

Williams knows when he will officially visit Arkansas.

“I’ll officially visit on October 6,” Williams said. “I think whenever date the Alabama game is.”

Williams talked about when he would take another unofficial visit to Arkansas.

“I haven’t made any plans for another unofficial yet,” Williams said. “I just went to their first game against Eastern Illinois.”

Williams will play defensive end at Arkansas.

“I’ll play defense end and stand 25 percent of the time.” Williams said.
