Jacksonville point guard Davonte Davis became the first commitment of the 2020 Arkansas men’s basketball class on Saturday.

The four-star, who also excelled for Woodz Elite, originally committed to Oklahoma State, but decommitted at the first of the month.

After attending the Red-White game last weekend in Barnhill Arena, Davis received an offer from the Hogs and decided he wanted to stay home.

“I feel like I can become a great player on and off the court,” Davis said. “Not only that but be able to get ready to play the highest level of basketball. Which is the NBA, and having a close relationship with the coaches at Arkansas really helped me with my decision.”

Davis is teammates with Fort Smith Northside forward Jaylin Williams and West Memphis forward Chris Moore on Woodz Elite and hopes that they will elect to remain his teammates in college.

He held offers from Oregon, Auburn, Texas Tech and SMU among others.
